Welcome to My Microgreens Farm and Blog!

Updated: Dec 4

By Owen Chase

Hello everyone, my name is Owen Chase and I am the founder of Just For Fun Farms a Worcester based microgreens farm.

Ever since I was a kid I was helping my mom in the garden. Pulling weeds, planting seedlings, picking beans and adding compost. When I was younger I seen this as an annoying chore but now that I am older I am happy that I was exposed to gardening from a young age.

In 2019 I applied for my first job with the Regional Environmental Council. I applied to be a core youth member in the YouthGROW program where teens would learn professional skills through a curriculum of urban agriculture.

Growing food for my community in urban farms and gardens in this program really sparked my passion for urban agriculture and food justice. I stuck with the program until I graduated and I am currently working with REC as a farm associate.

Now that I am in college I wanted to bring my passion for agriculture with me. I was involved in community gardens my freshman year but didn't get to grow much because most of the growing season is over the summer when I am not on campus.

This lead me to starting my own microgreens farm. Since microgreens can be grown in a small amount of space, any time of the year they were great for me. My first tray of microgreens were grown under my bed with a mini greenhouse model made of plastic and wooden stakes. Since then my farm has grown a lot and I now have my own microgreens rack next to my desk growing up to 20 trays a week.

I am happy to provide my community with a fresh produce! I believe in eating a balanced and controlled diet and I am happy to bring microgreens to people as a nutrient dense option.
